According to the entity managing the domain from which the cookies are sent and which processes the data obtained there are two types of cookies:

  • Own cookies are those which are sent to the user’s device from a device or domain managed by the editor itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
  • Third-party cookies are those which are sent to the user’s device from a device or domain that is not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained by means of the cookies.

In the event that cookies are installed from a computer or domain managed by the editor itself, but the information gathered by the same is managed by a third party, these cannot be considered as own cookies.

Cookies are also classified according to the length of time they are stored in the client’s browser, these can be:

They are typically used to store information that is only of interest to keep for the delivery of the service requested by the user at one time (e.g. a list of purchased products). • Persistent cookies: are those in which the data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period of time defined by the party responsible for the cookie, ranging from a few minutes to several years.

Finally, there is another classification with six types of cookies depending on the purpose for which the data obtained are processed:

  • Technical cookies: Technical or necessary cookies are essential for our website to function correctly and include basic functionalities such as identifying the session or giving registered users access to restricted areas. For these reasons, technical cookies cannot be deactivated.

  • External social media cookies: these are used so that visitors can interact with the content of different social media platforms (facebook, youtube, twitter, linkedin, etc.) and are only generated for users of these social media platforms.
